WDMES members have a wide variety of backgrounds and interests.

The common thread being a desire to participate in a friendly club, learn the skills to develop and build your own scale models, participate in club activities, meet the public and pass on your learned skills to the next generation. Many of us build scale models and undertake other engineering and craft projects, others just come for the company of likeminded people. Our members’ interests cover almost every aspect of engineering ranging from scale model live steam locomotives, traction engines, models of civil engineering plant & equipment , road vehicles, boats, stationary engines through to computer aided design and manufacture.
